Parking in Tourrettes-sur-Loup: How to Access Your Rental Without the Stress

One of the most common anxieties for travelers planning a trip to the South of France is the driving. Specifically, the fear of navigating a rental car through the impossibly narrow, winding streets of a medieval "perched village."
We’ve all seen the videos: a terrified tourist trying to squeeze a modern SUV between two 12th-century stone walls, while a line of locals honks impatiently behind them.
It is a valid concern. In many villages like Saint-Paul-de-Vence or Eze, parking can be a nightmare, often requiring you to leave your car miles away and drag your luggage up steep cobblestone paths.
But here is the good news: Tourrettes-sur-Loup is different.
And at La Borgada, we have one of the rarest luxuries in the region, stress-free accessibility. Here is everything you need to know about parking, driving, and arriving at your home base in the Riviera.
The Myth of the "Car-Free" Village
Tourrettes-sur-Loup is an authentic medieval village, built on a rocky spur overlooking the valley. Like most historic sites in the Arrière-Pays (hinterland), the heart of the village is pedestrianized. This preserves the tranquility and "slow travel" atmosphere that our guests love.
However, unlike other villages that are completely sealed off to vehicles, Tourrettes-sur-Loup was designed with a layout that allows for perimeter access. You get the silence of a pedestrian village without the isolation of one.
The La Borgada Advantage: Parking Just 20 meters away
The biggest differentiator for La Borgada is our location. While our property is part of the original 1677 ramparts and the street below is pedestrian-only - there is parking jsut 20 meters away.
When you stay at many other vacation rentals in the region, "parking nearby" often means "parking at the bottom of the hill and walking 15 minutes."
Whether you are staying in our 3-Bedroom Townhouse or the romantic Penthouse, you won't need to haul heavy suitcases over hundreds of meters of cobblestones. You can park in a proper car park, unload, and breathe easy.
Where Do I Park?

You can drop-off your luggage in Parking Place de La Libération, It has 30 minutes free parking and is located just 20 metres from the front door of La Borgada.

For longer term parking we recommend the free parking in Place de la Madelaine and the Parking de la Maternelle right below it. which is just 500m away. You can walk back to the village along the old Rue de la Bourgade, which offers a fantastic view of the village and brings you straight to the front door of Borgada.
• Security: The village is incredibly safe. Unlike the busy urban centers of Nice or Cannes, where street parking can be risky, Tourrettes-sur-Loup is a peaceful, tight-knit community.
• Availability: While July and August can be busier due to the summer season, the "home base" strategy of staying in the hinterland generally means you avoid the chaotic parking wars of the coast.
The Ultimate "Home Base" for Day Trips
We encourage our guests to view La Borgada as their logistical hub. Because accessing your car is so easy, you can be on the road and exploring the French Riviera in minutes.
• Heading to the beach? You are just 20 minutes from the coast.
• Visiting the perfume museums? Grasse is a scenic 20-30 minute drive.
• Exploring the mountains? The Gorges du Loup are only minutes away for canyoning and hiking.
When you return after a long day of exploring, you don’t have to worry about navigating a complex maze. You simply park, walk the few steps to your door, and step back into the 17th century.
Summary: Driving Tips for Your Stay
To make your arrival even smoother, here are a few tips for driving in the Alpes-Maritimes:
1. Rent a Smaller Car: While you can access La Borgada with a larger vehicle, the roads in the South of France are generally narrower than in the US. A compact SUV or sedan will make your life easier on the coastal roads.
2. Trust the "Home Base" Strategy: Don't try to stay in Nice and drive out every day. The traffic in the city center is heavy. By staying at La Borgada, you are already halfway to the region's best attractions, skipping the urban gridlock.
3. Ask Us Anything: When you book direct with us, you aren't just getting a code for a lockbox. We are here to help. If you are nervous about the drive from Nice Airport (just 35 minutes away), let us know and we can provide detailed directions.
